Does God care who’s elected our next president? Where does Christ fit in to our personal, and national, life?

Adult Christian Education

Adult education is an important part of the Christian life. At St. Matthew's we are committed to high quality educational offerings for our adults.

Each fall and during Lent, we offer the ever-popular rector's teaching series. The Lent, 2008 offering will be Terry Elsberry's "Christ and Culture."  These weeknight presentations are accompanied by dessert and coffee. Check the calendar for dates and time.

During Lent or in spring, we offer an Adult Inquirer's class. This program is designed for people who would like to learn more about the Episcopal Church. Many participants will be confirmed, will reaffirm their confirmation vows, or be received into the Episcopal Church during the bishop's annual visitation.

A continuing tradition is the “Distinguished Speakers Series.” Throughout the year, St. Matthew's hosts guests who speak on a variety of topics. Past speakers include Dana Reeve, Librarian of Congress James Billington, the CEOs of Lucent and Saks Fifth Avenue, and former White House Press Secretary, Ari Fleischer.

We have several active small groups including a Saturday morning breakfast men's group meeting the third Saturday of each month and every Saturday in Lent. Additionally, a Bible study and prayer group meets on Wednesdays after the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist service. These groups welcome and encourage new members.

For more information regarding these and other special educational offerings check the church calendar or call the parish office.
