A Lenten Series: Stories of Grace, Mar. 10 through Lent

A new rector's series, Stories of Grace begins on Mar. 10 (running each Sunday through the end of Lent) from 9 a.m. to 9:50 a.m. in the Vestry Room.

No single word better describes the heart of the Christian message than “grace”.  It defines our relationship with God, and shapes our relationships with our neighbors.  But it is also the case that life and people are not always gracious; sometimes our day-to-day experience can seem devoid of any charity.

Lent, as a season, wholeheartedly acknowledges the reality of life’s struggles, while simultaneously preparing us to appreciate and engage with the hope and possibility found in Easter.  Lent is a time when we look up and out for God’s grace to break into our midst like a wonderful surprise.  And so we do well to draw attention to concrete expressions of this dynamic as it plays out in the world.  They remind us of the things in life that are most important, and point us back toward their spiritual point of origin.

Through Stories of Grace, with the help of film clips, newspaper articles, and excerpts from literature, we will reflect upon some of these special instances.  Childcare for all ages is provided in the nursery beginning at 8:55 a.m.

Grace in Downton Abbey (& other British Television), Jan. 6 through Mar. 3 (expired)

A new Rector's class kicks off on Sunday mornings from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Vestry Room starting on Jan. 6.  If you like English television and/or grace, this series is for you.  We will be focusing primarily on Downton Abbey, Grantchester, The Queen and Call the Midwife.  Please note that one does not need to be familiar with Downton Abbey in order to attend.  All are welcome.

We also offer an Adult Inquirer’s class. This program is designed for people who would like to learn more about the Episcopal Church. From these classes, many choose to be confirmed, to reaffirm their confirmation vows, or to be received into the Episcopal Church during the bishop’s annual visit.

We have several active small groups including a Saturday Men's Breakfast which meets the third Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m. and every Saturday in Lent.  Additionally, a Bible study and prayer group meets on Wednesdays after the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist service.

All these educational opportunities welcome new members. For more information regarding these and other special educational offerings, check the church calendar or call the church office.
