Adult Education
December's Sunday Class: Dec. 1, 8, 16 and 22 at 9 a.m. in the Vestry Room
"Grace in Christmas" by Rev. John Zahl
Getting into the Christmas spirit can sometimes prove difficult.  There is so much going on, so many presents to wrap, and so much to plan...  St. Matthew’s is here to help.  After all, Advent is meant to be a time of preparation (for Christmas).  Toward that end, John Zahl will be offering a new series: Grace in Christmas, every Sunday morning leading up to the big day.  In this class, we’ll survey some of the great portraits of Christmas found in movies, hymnody, and television.  Of course we’ll visit Mr. Scrooge, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and a few other classics (e.g., A Charlie Brown Christmas), but also, we’ll look into some less familiar gems (A Midnight Clear, Call the Midwife, Home Alone, Children of Men, and even a TED Talk).  Join us each Sunday at 9am in the Vestry Room.  We’ll help to get you into the spirit.  Note: the nursery will be open for those with small children who would like to attend.

We also offer an Adult Inquirer’s class. This program is designed for people who would like to learn more about the Episcopal Church. From these classes, many choose to be confirmed, to reaffirm their confirmation vows, or to be received into the Episcopal Church during the bishop’s annual visit.

We have several active small groups including a Saturday Men's Breakfast which meets the third Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m. and every Saturday in Lent.  Additionally, a Bible study and prayer group meets on Wednesdays after the 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist service.

All these educational opportunities welcome new members. For more information regarding these and other special educational offerings, check the church calendar or call the church office.
