Camp Washington Retreat 2009

Dear Confirmation Class of 2010

St. Matthew’s confirmation retreat (September 19th and 20th) is fast approaching!  This will be an exciting step toward confirmation and we are all looking forward to it.  The retreat will take place at Camp Washington in Lakeside, Connecticut.  The phone number is (860)567-3037 and the website is www.campwashington.org.

The goals of the retreat are to get to know your classmates and to begin the educational phase of the confirmation program.  We hope to accomplish these goals through games and group-building activities, meals, small group interaction and formal sessions.

We will be away for a day and a half and during that time we will cover much important information as well as have a great time.  We ask that your parents drop you off at the circle at St. Matthew’s by 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19th.  Additionally, if you haven’t done so by then, please bring all the required signed paperwork and a check for $100 payable to St. Matthew’s Church.  The paperwork must be signed prior to the trip.  We plan on returning to St. Matthew’s no later than 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, Sept, 20th.  Please have your parents pick you up then.  For other arrangements, please contact Susan or Danny immediately.

You will find enclosed several forms for you and a parent to complete.  One is a medical release and authorization.  If you have any special medical needs, please let us know immediately.  Additionally, you must complete and sign with your parent the “Community Agreement.”  As you will see, this form states clearly what is not acceptable on the trip.  While we do not anticipate any problems, it is to everyone’s benefit to have the rules and consequences clear.  Please review the enclosed agreement with your parent.

The retreat promises be fun and informative.  We hope that you will remember it for a long time as foundational to your Confirmation into the life of the Church.  Our goal is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.  On behalf of Susan, Danny, Sally, Nancy, and all of the teachers and chaperones, we welcome you to the next step on your faith journey.
