What is stewardship?
Stewardship is an ethic that embodies responsible planning and management of resources, including financial resources. St. Matthew’s Church, like any community organization, needs the financial support of the community! EMC covers roughly 70% of the church’s operating budget. We need every pledge.
What is a pledge?
A pledge is a non-binding, annual financial commitment to St. Matthew’s Church.
What do most parishioners pledge?
Pledges range from $50 to $25,000+. The average pledge is around $2,900. All pledges, no matter their size, are vital to St. Matthew’s and deeply appreciated.
How do I make my pledge?
By completing the pledge card you receive in the Fall EMC mailing or call the Parish House at (914) 234-9636. You can pledge on-line using the form below.
When should I make my pledge?
As soon as you can, preferably before Thanksgiving. The Vestry sets the budget for the year the following January. Pledge commitments through the Every Member Canvass which are received in November and December play a large part in determining that budget—how much can be spent on programs, outreach, etc.
How do I fulfill my pledge?
There are many ways to fulfill your pledge:
- You can pay your entire pledge in advance and enjoy the tax deduction in the current year.
- You can make weekly payments in the offering plate with envelopes we provide.
- You can pay by credit card monthly, quarterly or 100 % in advance by indicating on your pledge card. You can pay online below via Paypal. You can also make a pledge using the form below.
How and when you fulfill your pledge is up to you.
