Youth Ministry Web Page

Welcome to the St. Matthew’s web page for high school teens!  We’re glad you chose to visit.  Explore this page and links.  And come back often, because the page is updated and links change often.  You’ll find fun ways to procrastinate and new ways to motivate yourself to success.  You’ll learn more about Fellowship of Timothy and what activities this group does.  You can request a prayer or have a question answered by the Rev. Bob Flanagan.

Fellowship of Timothy is a devoted group of local senior high school students of St. Matthew’s Church and like-minded adults who meet at St. Matthew’s.  While the FoT meets at church, you wouldn’t call us a “religious” group.  The group focuses on two areas, fellowship (i.e. having fun and hanging out) and service – helping others in need.    On the Sundays that the group meets, there is plenty of food and most every Sunday we play games, both indoors and outdoors like capture the flag.  FoT meets regularly throughout the school year.  FoT meetings start at 11:30 a.m. in our room at the Parish House and end about 1 p.m.

FoT and Community Service

FoT’s community service goal is to make life better for others in our community and across the world.  These activities help us understand Christian servanthood. Such annual activities as working with Habitat for Humanity, going on a Midnight Run, and serving lunch at an area soup kitchen. FoT tries to be innovative with its community service projects and is always open to fresh ideas.  All of these types of projects meet the requirements for community service hours at local high schools.

Changing Lives

Changing Lives, Inc. is a two-year-old organization, which was founded with much support of the high school students at St. Matthew's Church. Here is what the organization is about: We are primarily a teen-led organization that is organized through five Episcopal Church youth groups outside of New York City in Westchester County. We seek to transform young people’s awareness of global citizenship through working with African children orphaned or made vulnerable because of HIV/AIDS and thereby positively changing lives. We attempt to fulfill our mission through education, motivation and action.

FoT and St. Matthew’s

FoT plans and leads several fun social events for the Church, like the annual Haunted Hike, going to West Point for a football game, and a "cabin fever night."

FoT is always open to new members, both from families of St. Matthew’s and friends from Bedford and the surrounding towns. Come join us for food and fun!
