The Key is named for the old brass key to the Church that hung on the maple tree at the gate.  According to Rector Arthur Ketchum, the existence of the key "if that is a secret, it is one we'd like to share with anyone who wants to know it and make it his secret too.  So we decided to call the parish paper The Key, partly in remembrance of that old key and partly because we  hope it will open to all who come to learn the knowledge of everything planned and done here in the place which for many of us is the center of all that is best in our lives."
