ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR THE WEEK OF JULY 25TH
Summer Schedule
Beginning next Sunday, and continuing through September 5th on Labor Day weekend, there will be only one service on Sundays, at 9 AM in the church. Regular 8 and 10 AM services will resume September 12th.
Chapel-in-the-Woods
This is the last Sunday that the 8 AM service will be held at the Chapel-in-the-Woods until they resume on September 12th.
Church School
The opening day of Church School will be Sunday, September 12th.
Parents may use the Parish House Nursery for children up to five years of age during the 10 AM service today. Vibrating pagers are available. There is a tv for viewing the church service set up in the Vestry Room of the church, for those parents who wish to remain with their children.
Welcome visitors and newcomers! Please fill out the visitor’s card in your pew to find out about joining the St. Matthew’s family.
Midweek Eucharist Continues
Throughout the summer we will celebrate Holy Eucharist in the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at 10 AM each Wednesday. All are welcome to join the weekday celebration of Christ’s sacrifice. We will honor the traditional form of a weekday Eucharist. As such, the service will be quite minimal in its liturgical form. There will be no sermon or music. The Holy Communion will be plainly spoken and prayers will be offered. There will also be no Bible Study to follow. We do this as a way to continually honor God throughout the week. The Holy Spirit Chapel is behind the main altar in the church. It is a beautiful space and provides a quiet place to pray and reflect on the grace of God.
Photos of last Sunday's "Down to the River to Pray and Sing" service are now on the St. Matthew's website. If anyone has additional photos they'd like to post, please send them to Bob Blacker at robert.blacker@verizon.net.
The St. Matthew's School has one opening available in its program for 4 year olds. The school, which will open its doors this September, will provide preschool students with a vibrant and developmentally appropriate early childhood program that addresses all areas of learning - social, intellectual, spiritual and physical - in a nurturing and supportive environment. Please contact Stephanie Scanlon, the School Director, at sscanlon@stmatthewsschool.org or 914-234-7890 for additional information.
Announcing the St. Matthew's Bicentennial College Jamboree
To kick off the church's Bicentennial celebrations, St. Matthew's will be hosting a very special concert on September 25th at 5 PM featuring four outstanding a cappella groups from some of our favorite northeastern schools: the Trinity Pipes, Cornell's Cayuga's Waiters, Middlebury's Dissipated Eight and the Yale Whiffenpoofs. Tickets will be sold and space is limited, so please make sure to save the date and support St. Matthew's -- and maybe even support your alma mater while you're at it. Contact CollegeJamboree@gmail.com, or call 522-5150 for more information, or to reserve your tickets.
