ANNOUNCEMENTS FOR WEEK OF JUNE 28TH
We welcome our new Assistant Minister, Danny Lennox, who will preach at the 8 and 10 AM services on June 28th.
Parents may use the Nursery in the Parish House for children up to five years of age on Sundays during the 10 AM service.
Confirmation 2010!
If you have a current seventh grader who might be interested in our Confirmation program, please let the Parish Office know. We are currently putting together next year’s class. For questions or more information, please contact Susan Wyper, swyper@stmatthewsbedford.org.
Summer at St. Matthew’s
Chapel-in-the-Woods services on Sundays at 8 AM continue through July, weather permitting; in the church in case of inclement weather. This perennially popular outdoor service of Holy Eucharist will continue until August, when we begin our 9 AM combined service in the church, through Labor Day weekend.
Pastoral care continues in the summer, too! If you or someone you know is in the hospital, please let the clergy know so they can visit and pray.
A Jazz Vespers service will be held at St. Mary's, Middle Patent, this Sunday, June 28th, at 5:30 PM. Dr. Aaron Flagg, famed trumpet player and educator, returns after a huge success last year. Terry Elsberry will officiate at the service. A tent reception will follow. St. Mary's is located at the intersection of East Middle Patent and Hickory Kingdom roads in Bedford.
Summer Offering
Throughout the month August, following the 9 AM service, The Rev. Daniel Lennox will lead a series of discussions on the nature of Christian theology. We will discuss issues ranging from the nature of evil to the existence of God. These reflections are meant to be informal, enjoyable and educational. All are welcome!
Replacing Your Laptop?
You can do a good deed by donating your old one to Church of the Ascension, our sister church in Mount Vernon. Their business office needs a laptop for their accounting files and since finances are tight, as they are everywhere, we thought perhaps someone who is replacing a laptop might be willing to donate his/her old one to Ascension. To make arrangements to do so, contact either Had Talbot (hadtalbot@hotmail.com) or Mary Farley (mary@kunhardtmcgee.com). Thank you, and they will appreciate it greatly!
Food for the Hungry
There are many people in need in our area these days. St. Matthew's is helping with donations of canned goods and other non-perishable food items to local food pantries -- (please note that it is important that nothing donated is past its shelf expiration date!) There is a basket for food donations at the church entrance.
St. Matthew's Mission: To know Christ and to
make Him known.
