How do I get involved?
How do I join?
By filling out a Family Card and giving it to the Parish Secretary. You may get a Family Card by calling, or by stopping by, the Parish Office in the Parish House on the circle drive behind the Church. You may also call the Office if you'd like a call from one of the clergy, to receive offering envelopes, or if you'd like prayers or a pastoral visit.
Who may receive Communion?
At St. Matthew's, as in all member churches of the worldwide Anglican Communion, all baptized Christians are welcome at the Lord's Table.
What learning opportunities are available?
For children, we offer a full church school program for pre-school through Confirmation. Trained volunteer teachers bring the Christian faith alive in Church School classes held from mid-September through mid-June. Call our Church School Director in the Parish Office for details or click here.
Adult education includes on-going book and Bible studies; adult confirmation classes; plus series on relationships, how to grow in your faith, and our Distinguished Speakers program.
How do I get involved?
Service opportunities abound in this dynamic, energetic parish. Call the Parish Office if you are interested in learning about any of the following:
Community Service and outreach:
We meet the needs of people beyond our doors through multiple service programs sponsored by our Outreach Commission and the Women of St. Matthew's. We help support our fellow parishioners through the St. Matthew's Connection. We need your help! Click here for more information.
Hospitality and fellowship:
We need help in all of the following -- coffee hours following the 10 a.m. service; receptions following concerts; and such seasonal, all-parish events as Mardi Gras, the Halloween Spaghetti Supper, and our all parish picnic on the last day of Church School in June.
Property maintenance and upkeep:
The remarkable beauty of our buildings and grounds is due in part to the efforts or our Property Commission, Woodlands Commission, our fall and spring clean-up days and Project SMILE) (St. Matthew's Involved to Lower Expenses).
Music:
The music program is one of our primary strengths. Under the leadership of our music director, renowned musician and composer Anthony Newman. We feature three choirs: senior, junior and cherub. Singers of all ages are encouraged to volunteer and no auditions are required. Additionally, special concerts and music programs are held on a regular basis. For more information click here.
Women's Ministries:
The Women of St. Matthew's sponsor a host of activities and service opportunities, including the annual ART SHOW: Bedford, the proceeds of which are used for outreach; coffee hours; a Christmas brunch; and a spring meeting with lunch and a speaker. There are also frequent study programs and outside speakers.
Men of St. Matthew's:
This service organization helps with fellowship and property projects. They hold a monthly breakfast and discussion on the 3rd Saturday of the month from 7:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. at which all men are welcome.
Friends of Timothy:
The youth group plans many activities throughout the year under the direction of the Reverend Danny Lennox. Click here for more information.
